Meet the Critics

Clem Bastow is Senior Contributor for Inpress and has written for The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, The Sunday Age, Defamer Australia, Beat, Big Issue Australia, jmag, StylusMagazine.com, and many others. She is a member of the RocKwiz Brains Trust and her work has hit bookshelves in Measure Magazine’s Best Independent Music Writing of 2003, Playlists (Rough Guides, UK), RocKwiz and RocKwiz Volume 2 (Hardie Grant), and the forthcoming anthology Your Mother Would Be Proud (Allen & Unwin). A not-so-promising career as a child actor was derailed in puberty and since then she has appeared televisually on RocKwiz, The Einstein Factor, JTV’s The Hack Half Hour, numerous times as an anonymous lesbian on The Secret Life Of Us, and as a punk underdog on one episode of Search For A Supermodel; her not-so-promising modelling career was also derailed. Mia Timpano writes about music, art and toothpaste for the wider press. Her words have appeared in Frankie, Russh (Australia & Japan), Cosmo, Jmag, Republik (Romania), Empire, Nerds Gone Wild!, LifeLounge, Empty, Men’s Style, Sesame, Pulp, SummerWinter, Sneaker Freaker, forthcoming book Your Mother Would Be Proud published by Allen & Unwin, some other crap she can’t remember, and a line of plush toys from Singapore. She has hosted rock and metal programs on 3RRR, her work has been translated into Japanese, Romanian, Czech, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, and Phil Anselmo once threw a bottle of water straight at her tit. Tim Finney has been writing about music professionally since 2001 (and unprofessionally for as long as he can remember). His work has been published in Melbourne papers Beat and Inpress, and in US papers The Village Voice and The Seattle Weekly. He has also written for the online publication Idolator. He currently writes regularly for Inpress and for Pitchfork Media. In 2008 he contributed several reviews to the book The Pitchfork 500: Our Guide to the Greatest Songs from Punk to the Present.
